Our Monthly November and Annual Bussiness Meeting November 2024 With "Tips, Tricks and Hacks"
Newly Elected President of Mecklenburg County Beekeepers Association Terry Edwards for 2025
As a Meck Bee School alumni he always wanted to pay it forward. His beekeeping experiences have led him to become successful and a NC Certified Honey Producer. He enjoys beekeeping because it changes with the seasons and there is always something new to do and learn.
Our existing officers: Michael Entrekin, Vice-President
Sean Weddington, Treasurer
Justin Orders, Secretary
are remaining in their existing positions.
Justin Orders gave a presentation on "Tips, Tricks and Hacks".
He went on to explain how a spray mister with water would breakup robbing in short order.
Hive Tracks was an interesting app that allowed one to keep notes, locations of hives, weights, and maintenance for future use and was great for hive management. He works only with single deeps, which allows him to make more honey, is easier to inspect his hives.
He went on to explain the value of a "Crash Kit" that he carries in his truck. A veil, bee jacket, hive tools, smoker, smoker fuel and a spare hive to put a swarm in. And most importantly, an "EpiPen", in case of an emergency.
Tommy Helms gave his demonstration on feeding your honeybees.
He explained how he used a spare bucket with a strainer to catch the drippings after filling his feeder buckets. It prevented the feeder bucket from dripping syrup into the hive which could cause robbing.
Sean Weddington gave the Financial Report. We discussed some rules and made plans for our Annual Christmas Party on December 19th, 2024.
